My relationship with Childhood First began in 2018, when I chose them as the charity for which I wanted to run the 2019 London Marathon. Unfortunately, I broke both of my knees a couple of months before the marathon, and was, sadly, unable to run.
Since then it has been a long road of surgery, rehab, and physiotherapy, but the hard work paid off and I am so grateful that I am now able to run long distance again, which was deemed unlikely after my injury. It is a dream of mine to run the London Marathon, and when it became clear that I would be physically able to, it was my desire to run for Childhood First as I would have done in 2019.
The welfare of vulnerable children is an issue that is close to my heart for personal reasons, and the work that Childhood First does to provide treatment for children who have suffered many different types of traumas, such as abuse and neglect leading to emotional and psychological trauma, is incredibly important. Every child deserves a fair opportunity at life, and Childhood First ensures that many children who may have otherwise had that opportunity snatched away from them due to no fault of their own, are given the treatment and care that they need in order to have a chance.
A huge thank you to anyone who is able to donate to this special cause - I am incredibly appreciative.
