On Saturday 23rd May 2015, the YCA has organised a mount Snowdon challenge for lads and dads to raise much needed funds in aid to help civilians caught up in Yemen's worsening conflict. We challenge you to climb as many feet as you can up Wales’s highest mountain, to help orphans, children and families who have been affected by the ongoing war in Aden, Yemen.
We urge you to help us to raise money for this immediate cause as:
· Countless homes have been reduced to rubble
· Infrastructure and communication lines are damaged
· Hospitals are struggling to cope with the number of injured civilians
· Water and electricity supplies have been cut off.
· Tens of thousands of people have fled their homes, and much higher levels of displacement are anticipated.
About 150,000 people have been displaced by fighting, according to the UN, with 12 million short of food. The population of Aden face further suffering and uncertainty as ordinary families are struggling without the basic requirements for their survival such as water, food, fuel and healthcare.
Before this latest escalation in the conflict, more than 10 million Yemenis - almost half the population - were already going hungry every day. It is for this very reason that we ask you to join us to help ease the suffering of families in Aden. We urge donors to act now to support the people of Yemen at this time of greatest need.
Now it's time to take the steps together.
