We support young Londoners & their families to live free from violence & exploitation.

Story

We are Supporting Safer London Foundation by entering a team in the sponsored Raft Race!

It would be great if you are able to donate some money towards SLF and it would also be fantastic to see some spectators on the day, hopefully cheering us along (though we expect there will be more laughter than cheers).

If you do come along, please bring water balloons, water pistols, gunge etc. to throw at our competitors!!!!!!!!!

SLF is the Metropolitan Police Charity and SLF backs community-led crime reduction and victim
support projects across the capital with grant funding and volunteers. They help make
a safe place to live, work or visit.
We want to make a real difference to SLF's work supporting community safety throughout the capital.
A few details on what we're doing:

  • Before the event we will have the chance to meet with youngsters from the AHOY Centre,
one of SLFs supported projects, we will be teamed up with one AHOY team member.
  • Before the day we plan to meet with our AHOY team member to share some ideas on how to build the raft, if we'd like a theme and  possibly plan some additional material to take along.
  • On the day we will have an hour to build our raft with the basic materials they will provide  (drums, poles, rope - and paddles!) but we can bring along other stuff to personalise our craft and us - good fancy dress ideas are very welcome.
  • Your AHOY team mate will help build our raft (or will build it for us if we can't get to the lake before the first heat at 6.00 pm)
  •

  • There will be two heats followed by a grand final with celebrations, and a presentation for the winners (which we hope will be us).

  • Tuesday 25th August at 5:00 PM on Wimbledon Park Lake

Young Londoners are full of ambition and aspiration. But too many are living challenging lives, where experiencing violence and exploitation is a regular occurrence. By working alongside young Londoners, through one on one support and group work we’re supporting them to reach their full potential.
