Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
During the current Covid-19 pandemic St John’s Hospice, North London, has introduced a range of precautionary measures in line with guidance to protect patients and staff. These include suspending home visits unless critical, temporary closure of its Day Care Unit and limiting visitors on its Inpatient Unit.
All patients are in the highest category of risk living with life-limiting health conditions. There is significant deprivation among its patients and many live alone, often in care homes or small London flats with no outdoor space.
Your donations will go into to a quick-access fund ensuring specialist teams can be more agile in terms of their remote working, as they continue the heroic work they undertake day-to-day that is only heightened by COVID-19. It will also protect the wellbeing of hospice staff working on the frontline during these incredibly stressful times.
Your support is of particular importance as fundraising has been severely impacted. St John’s Hospice has cancelled many hospice fundraising events and close shops, putting it under financial pressure to ensure it can deliver its vital services in the future.
We are supporting out patients in the following ways during this time.
- Buying basic necessities such as bedsheets and towels as people who have nothing
- Self-care packs to ease mental health decline being even more cut off than prior to COVID-19
- Food parcels and medicines delivered by its ambulance drivers where council-run services are patchy and do not meet nutrition requirements
- Deposits for funeral costs
-Staff support sessions as bereavements become more prevalent and even more complex to manage while using PPE ‘
