Story
The Royal Air Forces Association is the charity that supports the RAF family; to protect the peace and safety we enjoy every day, RAF personnel sacrifice the normal way of life most people take for granted. When someone in the RAF family needs help, the charity they turn to is the Royal Air Forces Association.
2020 marks the 80th anniversary of The Battle of Britain.
For over 100 years the Royal Air Force has defended British skies. 80 years ago, it experienced its greatest test in the Battle of Britain.
Using science, ingenuity, and support from across the UK and overseas, the RAF defended the UK from Nazi Germany’s air force, the Luftwaffe. It was the first major battle fought entirely in the air, and Nazi Germany’s first major military defeat.
This year the RAF is commemorating and celebrating those who made this victory possible: From the hard work and determination of 'The Many', to the courage and sacrifice of 'The Few' - the 2,945 RAF aircrew who faced the Luftwaffe from July to October 1940.
Join me in my journey to fundraise for the RAFA with a commemorative 100-mile bike ride in full MTP Uniform, visiting key sites from RAF Kenley, to the RAF Museum (Hendon), to the Imperial War Museum Duxford!
Some of the sites I'll be visiting:
- RAF Museum Hendon
- IWM Duxford
- RAF Uxbridge Memorial
- Polish Air Forces Memorial
- Biggin Hill Aerodrome
- The Cenotaph
- Buckingham Palace
- and more!
I aim to raise £80 for every mile ridden, with a total target of £8,000.
£20 will provide five days worth of vital provisions for a vulnerable veteran
£30 will reach 20 vulnerable veterans by funding an outreach phone call.
£50 could help a child missing an RAF parent feel a little happier thanks to a special bedtime story
Thank you for your donation however big or small, it all helps to make a difference!
