Story
"Never was so much owed by so many to so few"
The 15 September 2020 marks the 80th anniversary of the Battle fought in the skies over Britain from 10 July to 31 October 1940. The RAF played a crucial part in the defeat of the Luftwaffe in the famous Battle of Britain, preventing the Nazis from invading Britain, the last democratic stronghold in Europe. The Royal Air Force has shaped our nation. It has influenced how we live our lives today through its impact on world events, society and technology. The RAF Museum's purpose is to share the story of the Royal Air Force, past, present and future using the stories of its people and our collections in order to engage, inspire and encourage learning.
In order to raise awareness and pay our own respect to those who served our country so gallantly during the Battle of Britain, 6 members of the RAF Rugby 7s team will be running an ultra marathon (51 miles/80km) on the 29 Aug - 1 km for every year since the RAF's finest hour - beginning at RAF Biggin Hill and finishing at the RAF Museum in Hendon, hitting prominent Battle of Britain landmarks throughout the route.
Please help us commemorate 'the few' and raise money to keep their memory alive by supporting the RAF Museum.
