Story

Welcome to our JustGiving page. Members of the Royal Air force and residents of the Ascension Island will be rowing a total of 305,378 metres for two wonderful charities, (St Helena) Cancer Support & Awareness and Combat Stress.

The St Helena Cancer Support and Awareness Charity aims to
assist patients, survivors and families affected by cancer as well as
contributing funds to purchase medical equipment to aid diagnosis and recovery.

Whilst Combat Stress helps former servicemen and women with mental health problems such as, anxiety, depression and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The work both charities do is life-changing and often life-saving!

Each one of us will attempt to row at least 20k over a 12 hour period, covering the distance of the Ascension Island Wideawake airfield in metres. Whilst some of us are fairly fit, this will be a testing challenge
as none of us are particularly any good at rowing. It is also known that most, if not all, don’t have the rowing fitness needed to complete this event. The event will take place at the Travellers Hills NAAFI area on two rowing machines. To achieve our aim we need all the help we can get. So please, pretty please, donate and help us through the pain barrier whilst supporting two magnificent charities!

All social distancing and hygiene precautions will be taken during the Row.
