Story
Rackham C.E. Primary School is a very special place and is an integral part of the Witchford Community. I feel incredibly honoured to work alongside such passionate and hard working staff and children. Over the past 18 months, our school community have been incredible. We have pulled together brilliantly and looked after each other both physically and mentally.
At Rackham, we love and look after our building and grounds but we cannot afford to offer it the TLC it deserves. Our charismatic and beautiful school is surrounded by gorgeous countryside but over the years the building has suffered a lot of wear and tear.
Among the other school improvements on the wish list from staff and pupils is the repair of the children’s trim trail because it has been unsafe to use for several years now, repairing the outdoor swimming pool, an extension of the Forest School area and replacing the main window in the school hall, which is damaged.
Sadly, government funding doesn't afford us opportunities to make these improvements.
I am always overwhelmed by the tireless efforts of our FWR who raise money for Rackham throughout the year, every year. They provide Rackham pupils with so much and never stop thinking of new ways to raise further funds for our school. Unfortunately, it has not been possible for us to have our annual Funday Sunday for two years in a row now, so it is even more important for us to think of alternative ways to raise vital funds for our school and pupils.
On Saturday 11th September, 2021 I will be jumping from 15,000 ft and falling through the air at 125 miles per hour for 60 seconds free fall in what is the highest skydive available in the UK. I am incredibly nervous about this but hope that I will be able to promote 'risk taking' and determination to the pupils at Rackham and to raise valuable funds for our fantastic school. This sky dive was supposed to happen in July 2020, but Covid restrictions meant it was necessary for me to postpone. I am even more nervous about it now than I was last year and I only hope that the nerves don't get the better of me on the day!
Please consider donating to this worthy cause. I promise to share video evidence of the event!
Thank you in advance,
Bridget Harrison
