Rachel's Cross Bay Walk for NWAA 2022

Crossbay Fundraising Walk 2022 · 10 July 2022
On 31st July I officially retire, having worked in the NHS for 35 years. Coincidentally the opportunity has arisen to do the Cross Bay Walk, Arnside to Grange-Over-Sands, 6.5 - 7.5 miles (dependant on the tide?🥴) across Morecambe bay on 10th July in support of the North West Air Ambulance. This walk can only be done with the Queen’s Official Guide, and I have funded my place in the NWAA group. I’d ask anyone who wants to mark my retirement to consider sponsoring me as supporting the NWAA is close to my heart.
In 2007 the NWAA saved my life and prevented lifelong disability by caring for me after a serious horse riding accident. They had reached me, commenced care, put me into the helicopter and were taking off before the land ambulance had even arrived, though I was close to a main road. They whisked me by air to Preston Royal Hospital where the skilled neurosurgery and intensive care teams put me back together.
In 2014 I cycled from London to Paris and raised £3,000 for NWAA. That just about covered the cost of the crew and helicopter for one call-out.
NWAA receive NO government funding. They are totally dependant upon charitable donations. I am one of many who will forever be grateful the NWAA exist and will always continue to support them. Thank you.
