Crossing Over Water for Freedom from Torture

Walking the Camino Way · 30 September 2022
Half way through my walk along the Camino Frances, as I try to wild camp as much as possible, I am realising more than ever how hard it must be for those making difficult, perilous journeys over land and water simply to find safety. That's why I have belatedly decided to take part in Freedom from Torture's Crossing Over Water campaign.
When I left my start point in St-Jean-Pied-de-Port, I saw a sign saying that I had 789km to walk to reach Santiago de Compostela. My goal is to persuade 789 people to donate at least a quid - hopefully more - to show that we stand in solidarity with refugees and asylum seekers. This little video explains more (you need to copy and paste the link into your browser):

Whatever you can manage to give will support Freedom From Torture's amazing work both to support survivors of torture when they reach our shores and to campaign for better treatment of asylum seekers. Please give what you can! Thank you.
