Rachel's 6 Star Marathons page

New York Marathon · 3 November 2019
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
I'm Rachel - a self confessed running addict - where I've been covering over 1000 miles on my feet every year for the last 3 years (some call me crazy - I prefer 'focussed'!!) and I am putting my hobby to it's best use - to try and raise as much as I possibly can for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice...!
What I'm up to:
Over the last 3 years I have been training constantly, saving hard and travelling the globe - to complete the 6 World Marathon Majors - known as the '6 stars'. With 5 of the 6 finish lines crossed, I now have only one race to go - the New York Marathon on 3rd November 2019 - for the Hospice..!!
I started my quest in the Summer of 2016 and since then I have completed 5 of the 6 Marathon Majors in: London/ Berlin/ Chicago/ Tokyo and Boston - it's been an amazing journey - and now I have only New York left to complete the 6 stars..!!
There are currently only 6133 people in the world that have completed all 6 stars of the World Marathon Majors - only 1724 of these are female - I will be very proud after 3 years of hard saving, training, travelling and racing, to finally be able to add my name to this coveted list of crazy runners when I cross the finish line in Central Park NYC in November.
To achieve the '6 Stars' will of course be an enormous personal achievement for me, but to know I have supported and helped such an amazing charity in the process, is the real honour. I am very proud to be supporting them....
Why I'm supporting the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice:
The hospice gives it's amazing care - FOR FREE - to those that need it most at such a very difficult time. None of us like to think about the end of life but, inevitably, it comes to us all, and for some, way way too soon.
The Phyllis Tuckwell is there for patients of all ages to give them the best end of life care, supporting their families too, at the time they need it the most. My Grandad Harold 'H' O'Grady spent his last days at the hospice with these wonderful carers. My family and I are eternally grateful to the angels that work there, for the comfort and support that he got, and that we all received from them, at such a very sad time.
The hospice provides it's services at no charge at all BUT they have to raise £20,000 EVERY DAY to fund the amazing and important care they give...!!
I see them fundraising absolutely tirelessly and I try and attend as many of their events as I can, but this is my big personal effort to raise money for them..!!
And so, if you can, please help me to help them raise the vital funds they need..!! Any sponsorship of any amount at all, is very very welcome..!!
Thank you so much everyone!!
