Story
Mike and I have entered the Bupa Manchester 10k to raise funds for Christies in Manchester.
In 2013, our friend David Parkes was diagnosed with Germ Cell Cancer. Christies treated Dave, and after intensive courses of chemotherapy, we are now delighted to report the cancer has shrunk, and he requires no further treatment, just follow up x-rays. Whilst Dave was being treated, his wife rallied round, looking after their toddler, and coping with her second pregnancy. Their second child was born, rather quickly, on Monday 10th February - Betsy Alice, a welcome sister to Ted and a new focus after all the treatment of 2013.
We wanted to do something to acknowledge the kindness and support offered by Dr Welch at Christies and Kath from Macmillan Nurses to Dave and Becky during his treatment.
I am not a runner, I am training for this run, going out in all weathers, and with the help of shuffle on my iPod, I'm being motivated to run, and getting fitter in the process.
Mike was a runner, until about ten years ago. He has been training for this event and he is keen to beat his training times.
Mike wants to run fast, I just want to get around the 10k.
