Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Shortly after giving birth to Evelyn last October I experienced Postpartum Psychosis, a rare and serious but treatable mental health illness that can develop after having a baby. In my case this was completely out of the blue and was an incredibly unexpected and frightening time for us all. Action on Postpartum Psychosis are a maternal mental health charity that support women and their families affected by Postpartum Psychosis. Their work is so important to aid recovery of women, increase awareness and educate, facilitate research into the illness and improve current services. Following a stay in the Leeds Mother and Baby unit along with support and treatment from NHS perinatal mental health services, I have personally found being able to relate to other women using the APP peer support forum and reading the brave stories shared using their platform to be an incredibly valuable part of my recovery.
Together as a team of 11 we will be walking a total of 4 million steps over the month of November. We would like to try and raise awareness of this relatively unknown maternal mental health illness that affects over 1400 women in the UK every year, whilst also raising money to support the APP charity so they can continue with the great work they do. Any donation would be most welcome, or even if you can just share our page to help spread the word, that would also be a great help!
