Macmillan nurses were there to help my mum when she really needed them, from the very start at diagnosis, until she entered the hospice for the final time. My family really valued their support. 

I will be walking 26 miles, with my friend Val Kenyon, round the beautiful Ullswater in the Lake District.

It will be a wonderful day, but still a real challenge; of achy legs, weary bodies and blistered toes (hopefully not too many lost toenails).

A week later I will be running 13 miles with my friend Harriet Clayton in the York half marathon.

We have trained as best we can, but it will still be really tough!!
