Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are raising money for the Sick Children's Trust because of all the help and support that they have given to the Pearce-Storm family.

2yr old Vaughn was born with multiple heart problems and had his first open heart operation at just 5 days old at Leeds General Infirmary.  More complications arose and by the time he reached the age of one he had had his third.  It was during this last surgery that Vaughn's family were offered the help and support of the Sick Children's Trust.

Because of Vaughn's vunerable state and the threat of contracting an infection, visiting restcrictions were put in place which meant that his then 3yr old sister Willow was unable to visit him.  With no other family nearby to look after her in Selby this was an extremely stressful and impossible situation for parents Rebecca & Simeon.

The Sick Children's Trust intervened and provided them with a 25 day stay at Eckersley House which is situated right next to the hospital.  This enabled the family to be together and make a very traumatic time a little easier.

Vaughn will still require further heart operations as he grows older and no doubt the Sick Children's Trust will be there to help this family once again.  This is made even more poignant as the government has made the decision to close the Leeds Children's Heart Surgery Unit for operations.  The travel to Newcastle will be very difficult.

We wish Vaughn, Beccy, Sim & Willow all the best and hope that our run will help raise much needed funds for a well deserved charity.
