Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Things I like: TV, tea, cooking, eating, wrapping up in a blanket to read a book on the sofa.
None of these things are running. Nevertheless, on Sunday 3rd March 2013, I will be attempting to speed-stroll a mere 13.1 miles through the charming, slightly hilly, streets of Bath. *shudder*
I didn't imagine there would ever be a situation that would lead to me doing this at all, let alone voluntarily. But on Saturday 16th March 2013, I get married and my grandfather, Phil, won't be attending. This is because he has dementia and over the last few years, the slightly gruff Welshman with the terrible jokes who knew my name has been replaced by the guy who now doesn't know any of his family, doesn't really know what's happening around him, can't do anything without help and, on his best days, thinks he's still a teacher in the 1950s.
So I'm going to do something I kind of hate and will find really hard to raise a bit of money in celebration of him so that Alzheimer's Society can keep doing their thing and help make life a bit easier for people like Phil.
Please sponsor me! :-)
