Update 7 October:
WOW. Thank you so much for the incredible support I've received already. I'm blown away by your generosity.
I'm thrilled to have sailed past my initial £400 target, so now I've set the bar higher - can we hit £700 before race day?
Training has been challenging at times - I'm never going to be a sprinter and my interval times make that clear! But I've been building up to longer runs and did 13k for the first time yesterday, something I never imagined a year ago. I even did a 'practice' 10k last weekend in Grantchester and while it was wet and muddy, I actually kind of enjoyed it.
Thank you all again and hope to see a few of you at the finish line!

I took up running last year when my husband was recovering from a car accident and I couldn't participate in my usual sport. Couch to 5K helped me get started and Parkrun keeps me moving. The only records I'm breaking are my own, and that feeling of going that little bit faster or seeing people of all ages and abilities getting out there and doing it each Saturday morning keeps me coming back for more.
When I turned 40 earlier this year, one of my goals was to run a 10K. We're lucky to have a beautiful (and flat) race here in Cambridge that supports the vital work of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
£350 supports two days of research; that's pretty impressive when you think about everything that funds - researchers, lab space, equipment.
My target is £400 - that's 40 x £10 each. And the difference it makes lasts far beyond the time I'll spend trotting around Cambridge.
