Story
Having supported Centrepoint for many years, I felt this year I wanted take things one step further and help make a difference by swapping my warm cosy bed for one night and sleep outside under an arch in Shoreditch to raise money.
In the past year, around 136,000 16-24 year olds were homeless or at risk around 7,000 more than last year. This Christmas alone there were 24,000 young people homeless and figures show sadly that one young person in the UK becomes homeless every four minutes!!
Many young people leave their homes due to physical, mental and emotional abuse. They are afraid, isolated, hungry and often have no money. Many spend nights seeking shelter in doorways, shivering in carparks and putting themselves at risk in unsafe environments.
Young people that become homeless are disadvantaged as they are more likely to be in insecure low paid work and less likely to have savings and references therefore have less stability and options.
Centrepoint are making big steps to change this reality and provide young people with a future beyond homelessness. They can give them a chance to start over and the opportunity to get the support and counselling they may need but they can't do it alone.
Just £350 could provide the vital basics for seven young people - including a fresh set of clothes, toiletries and a clean towel.
Please help me to reach my target of £350 and change peoples lives for the better. Together we can help end youth homelessness by 2037!
Thank you 🙏🏻
