Story
After a 2 year long battle with cervical cancer, my sister Rachel passed away. Before her death, Rachel worked for the HALO Trust following her passion of helping the less fortunate.
The HALO Trust helps countries recover after conflict. They train and employ women and men from conflict-affected communities to clear landmines, munitions and other remnants of war. Founded in Afghanistan in 1988, we work in 30 countries around the world and increasingly in places where conflict still rages, such as Ukraine, Syria and Yemen. Their work is the first step towards recovery after war - it is impossible to deliver emergency humanitarian aid without clearing explosives from roads - but they are usually the last to leave, staying until the very last mine is destroyed, often decades from when the first bullet was fired.
Rachel spent 7 years working for the HALO Trust from a Field Officer Trainee to Chief Coordination Officer. She cared passionately for all those that were affected by living in a post-war country.
In memory of her many years working for the HALO Trust, we are grateful for any donations that would help the fantastic work that they do.
