Story
YIPPEEEEEEE....i did it!! So glad that its all over, but what an amazing experience. Was really good with the height issue, worst bit was shuffling down towards the door thinking...OMG this is it! Then leaning over the door knowing that we were about to plunge out! 15,000 feet is a hell of a long way up!! I have put some images on here but go to my facebook or Shoot Out Club facebook page to see loads more.I will post the video on when it comes as well.
Thank you everyone for helping me raise such an amazing amount of money, i thought of everyone as I plumetted to earth for a minute freefall at 150mph!! I still managed to talk too!!!
I am being asked whats next...well wont be for 2 years but I have an idea and it will be a biggie, a personal struggle for me and one that on many levels will tax me mentally and physically so watch this space and get your credit cards charged for 2 years time!!
Thanks again for all your support, means so very much and lets hope that all this effort will make such a difference to so many lives in the future.
Loads of love, Rachel xxxx
Twice been rained off lets hope third time lucky...Sunday 26th June at 8am I hopefully will be in the skies above Dunkerswell by 9am..think of me as I hurtle from 15,000 feet to earth!! A huge thanks to all that have supported me and helped to raise a whopping amount for Cancer Research UK, Just pray all my angels will be helping me back to earth safely....xx
4 days and almost at the £10,000, but a pledge of £200 will see me hit the total, now all I have to do is JUMP! Don't want to dwell on it too much just praying for nice weather! Wish me luck and if you haven't already donated PLEASE do!!! x
Its only 10 days till I take to the skies above Dunkerswell, 15,000 feet to be exact and then throw myself out of a perfectly good plane...to many they love it and I have been told once I have done it I will want to do it again!! Doing it once will be the hardest challenge as a vertigo sufferer I can think of nothing worse. So please help me raise the last £264.02 to make the final total double my original target.
Thank you and watch out for the screams soon!! aghhh!! xx
Well what can I say about this weekend. Speachless is not something I am known for being! Firstly well done to all teams for the collections at the weekend raising a fab £484.31, then thanks to the teams for donating their prize money at Weston, swelling my total further, but then came the ultimate...the Welsh Wizards from Barry who have been such avid supporters of my fund raising every year blew me away with a call from Weston to tell me they have a cheque for a whopping and unbelievable £4,213.32...WOW is not the word. I was blown away with the amazing support and dedication to the cause of fundraising by this team. You are all amazing and I thank you all so much....Now I have had to raise my original target of £5,000 to double that of £10,000 so with only a few weeks to go, please all help me reach that final hurdle of hitting the 5 figure sum! xx
Thank you again to all the teams this weekend for their support with pushing my total even higher with the collections, a massive thanks to the winners from mill rythe of the Skittles, Alley Rats and darts Norfolk n Chance for donating their prize money, plus to Young ones, Bulldogs A and Weston Nomads at Sand Bay with donating their money too...almost there now to hit £5000!!! just got to blinking well jump out of the plane now!!
OMG.... speachless twice in one year, never heard of! Thank you to all eleven teams at Sand Bay, W-s-M Shoot Out for donating all your prize money which together with the £328.50 raised in the collection has sent me over the £4000 mark! When we started the weekend we were just shy of £3000!! Unbelieveable generosity from all...thank you again x
Well what can I say but WOW...thank you to all the teams at Shoot out for your support with the charity collections every weekend. Last weekend at Mill Rythe (25-7 March) they rendered me speachless...yes something very rare, as not only had we raised a whopping £310.30 in the charity dash, but all the teams in the final donated their prize money to the cause. One team donated theirs to the local cancer hospital and the others plus additional donations made £525, boosting the money raised at just that weekend £835.30!! Such a massive thanks to all those teams, you know who you are xx
Hi all,
Many of you will know that I am very committed to raising money for Cancer Research UK. Through the loss of very loved and much missed family and friends and with the celebration of those who have fought and beaten this dreadful disease, I have made a pledge to do everything I can to raise money for CRUK.
Seeing first hand what cancer sufferers have to face and battle against I want to set myself personal challenges that will push me to my absolute limits to acheive.
As a vertigo sufferer i HATE heights. Don't like going up ladders, hate going up tall buildings, wouldnt use a roof top swimming pool as 8 floors up (and I booked the hotel!)on ski lifts I have to stare up ahead and even once when skiing lay on the snow up a mountain for ages convinced I was going to "fall off". So the worst thing a person petrified of heights could contemplate doing? Flying 15,000 feet up in the sky and being thrown out of a plane!
So June 2011 I will be taking to the skys above Dunkerswell airfield and thrown out of a perfectly good plane!! Mad...yes, scared...petrified...cold sweats when thinking about it, oh yes!! But, if I can raise money for CRUK then it will all be worth it. What I am doing is nothing compaired to the gruelling treatment endured by everyone fighting this dreadful disease. So please, please give generously for such a great cause.
Now I want to raise as much money as possible so please dig deep and regardless of the total I still WILL be wearing a parachute and nope you can't bid to be the one to push me out!!
Please help me reach my target and will think of you all as I hurtle to earth, praying my shute will open!!
Lots of Love, Rachel
