I’m excited (and nervous) to share that I’ve signed up for the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise money for the amazing charity ‘Over The Wall’, which was so important to my friend Robbie.

For those who don’t know, we lost Robbie very suddenly last year. While I wasn’t lucky enough to know him as long as the rest of the #bemorerobbie half marathon team, the impact he had on me in just a few years shows the kind of person he was. Robbie was the link that brought me together with some of my closest friends and my boyfriend, pretty much shaping my current life.

Even though he faced some serious health challenges, Robbie never talked about what he couldn’t do. Our chats were always about the good stuff - relationships, swapping advice (usually about what his next gift for Jordyn should be), sharing our Canada adventures when everyone else was tired of hearing about them, and bonding over our shared love of High School Musical 2.

I’ve never really run before, so this half marathon is going to be a huge challenge. But honestly, what better reason to push myself than to honour a friend who showed us how much you can achieve, no matter what life throws at you.

Group Statement:

Over The Wall is a UK based charity for children and young people with health challenges and disabilities to discover a world of mischief and magic. We provide a safe place to step outside of comfort zones, establish friendships and build confidence through meaningful and exciting activities.

These amazing experiences are in-person at Residential camp, through our Outreach services and also available online with Camp in the Cloud and Camp 365. And what’s more, it’s all free!

'Team Robbie' consists of 10 runners, friends and family of Robbie:

Fran, Sophie, Lottie, Alessandra, Katie, Dave, JP, Jack, Jake & Rachel

Robbie passed away at in April 2023 aged 27. We have come together to #BeMoreRobbie in carrying out his wishes to support the work of his favourite charity.

Robbie loved Over the Wall, attended Camp from the age of 9, first as a Camper, and later as a Volunteer. Latterly he was a member of the Operations Committee supporting the work of OTW.

Most of us are not accustomed to running half marathons so this is a serious challenge for us, but reflecting true Robbie-ness, we are determined to succeed. We have a big fund-raising target but every penny helps so please do give generously to this great charity.
