Story
In March, I will be swimming 200 lengths in aid of Cancer Research and Marie Curie.
I work as a Cancer Patient Pathway Navigator at the Leicester Royal Infirmary for Head and Neck and Haematological cancers. I see what a difference research can do to people’s lives and I want to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Growing up my mum worked for Marie Curie, I saw the amazing work that the charity does and the vital funds they need. Cancer affects so many people’s lives and fundraising like this with the Swimathon is essential to their amazing work.
A little more about the charities...
Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity is dedicated to saving lives through funding research to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Cancer Research UK are the only charity fighting over 200 cancer types but don't receive any government funding for their work, so their progress is all thanks to the support of people like you.
Marie Curie provides expert care, guidance and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Around 2,100 Marie Curie Nurses work day and night, in people’s homes all over the UK, providing hands-on care to people when they need it the most.
