Story

Hello everyone,

Please help me to raise the £3200 needed to get me to Peru to complete the Inca Trail and also spend time volunteering in a school out there. The money is being raised for  CRY charity - Care and Relief for the Young - which aims to rescue and restore young lives broken by poverty, oppression, exclusion, abuse, and to provide appropriate opportunities for a better future.

Although CRY is a small charity, it has over 30 projects in 17 countries around the world. Projects such as children's homes in Ukraine and Albania - taking kids off the streets and out of state shelters to provide them with a loving home. Other projects include maternal centres in Cambodia for young mothers who are too far away from a hospital and need medical care and attention, or teaching kids in South Africa about HIV prevention for example. Email me if you want to find out more about CRY projects.

The Inca Trail is NOT a holiday... it will take a lot of physical training and self-discipline to complete. This will be the biggest challenge that I've taken on so far. I am starting my training now for May 2010 and hope to raise well and beyond the target amount so that I can give more to CRY.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. If you donate, then I can concentrate of getting fit for the challenge. It doesn't even have to be that much... every penny helps.

Thanks so much for your generosity.

Rach x

PS: This is the itinerary -

Day 1: Fly to Lima.

Day 2: Fly to Cuzco and the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Day 3 to 5: Spend three days on volunteer work on a range of volunteer projects at the San Luis Gonzales School.

Day 6 to 9: Embark on a truly memorable trek along the Inca Trail. Although at times arduous, the combination of stunning scenery and Incan ruins compensates any hardships encountered along the way!

On the morning of Day 9 we set sight on Machu Picchu from the amazing Intipunku, or Sun Gate, with the rest of the morning to explore and the afternoon regroup in the town of Aguas Calientes.

Day 10: Another morning to explore Machu Picchu or take a well-earned dip in the thermal waters of Aguas Calientes before heading back to Cusco by train in the afternoon.

Day 11: Fly to Lima, spend the rest of the day exploring the city, and fly to London in the evening.
