Story
After a few years of not doing too much running I’m trying to get back on track – so to speak. I’ve signed up for the Bath Half Marathon to spur me on and, more importantly to try and repay some of what I owe the wonderful people at Dorothy House.
You will all know that my sister Katie died from a brain tumour in 2020. You may or may not know that for the last 9 months of her life, when she was really poorly, it was Dorothy House who made the most difference in getting us through those very tough times.
The carers who visited Katie every day are some of the most amazing people in the world. They didn’t just perform a set routine with Katie they really did care for her and about her. They also made her feel special. The admin staff were also lovely and a great support to me.
The original arrangement was supposed to be temporary while a permanent solution was found. This proved hard to set up and Katie was reluctant to give up the lovely ladies that provided such excellent care each day anyway. She ended up being their longest ever patient by many months! It also meant that she was able to stay at home and receive excellent care rather than have to go into the hospice.
So if you’d like to help support this wonderful charity, in honour of my extraordinary sister - for all the remarkable work they do, that would be great. Thank you so very much.
