Story
In March 2019, 7 colleagues of my brother-in-law Padraig McCarron were killed in the Ethiopian Airlines crash. One of them was his close friend, Mick Ryan. Mick was 39 and had a 3-year-old daughter and a baby just a few months old.
Mick dedicated his working life to help deliver aid to the world's most vulnerable. He was global deputy chief engineer in parts of Africa, Nepal and Bangladesh where his work helped thousands of fleeing Rohinga refugees. His family were weeks away from joining him in Rome where he was based with the World Food Programme.
In June, I am swimming a mile in Roundhay Lake in Yorkshire in the hope we can send a bit of cash to the World Food Programme in Mick's name.
