Story

For the third year I am running the Bupa Great Manchester Run, aiming for a new personal best... quite a challenge especially given that being 'sporty' does not come naturally to me!

Rifles Regimental Trust

I am fundraising for the Rifles Regimental Trust, in support of British troops and the work they are doing in Afghanistan. Most of you will know that my brother is Territorial Army reservist Lieutenant Patrick Start, currently serving in Helmand province with 5th Battallion The Rifles. This has opened my eyes to the enormously challenging work our soldiers undertake, fighting to make our world safer.

Care for Casualties appeal

Since  formation, The Rifles have seen almost continuous action in Iraq and Afghanistan. This commitment has come with a cost, seeing over 60 Riflemen killed in action in five years, 30 with lost limbs and others blinded or with serious neurological conditions.

The Care for Casualties appeal ensures funds are raised to support the immediate, medium and long-term care of Rifles' casualties. We must do all we can to support our soldiers and show our appreciation for their courage and sacrifice. This charity gives the severely wounded, their families and the families of fallen Rifleman the support, inspiration and means to rebuild their lives.

Your sponsorship will mean a great deal to me... and if you are free on May 20th come and meet me on the finish line!
