Story
Inspired by completing my first ever 10k in Brighton, I've decided to be a bit braver and attempt my first ever half marathon on behalf of Tearfund. Tearfund is celebrating its 50th year so its feels an appropriate time to dig deep and accept this challenge (though I may well regret it having just started a rather punishing 10 week training schedule!).
Tearfund's strapline is following Jesus where the need is greatest and as a staff member, I can see first hand the tough decisions our international colleagues make to ensure we do work truly with those in the great need. We can't help everyone but it can be life changing for those we do. People like Birungi, who live in a remote part of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Because she was a girl she never went to school and felt worthless. But everything changed for her when she learned to sew and she now runs her own business. Go Birungi!
So I’m running for Tearfund so that many more people like Birungi can have their hope and value restored. Please sponsor me to help end extreme poverty.
Together, we can change the world for women like Birungi. Read more of her story at www.tearfund.org/wewontstop
