Shifnal Help was established in response to the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic to support the vulnerable and isolated. It operates a helpline six days per week, offering support, medication collection and delivery, shopping and other key tasks. It is supported by a band of volunteers receiving the calls and allocating them to other volunteers who run the variety of errands.
Shifnal Help has forged strong links with, amongst others, Shifnal Live At Home scheme, Shifnal Town Council, Co-Op stores, Boots the Chemist in Shifnal, The White Hart (providing crucial storage for food donations).
In its first month of operation Shifnal Help responded to over 600 calls for assistance, and by May 18th that number is still rising (at 935 calls to date). The vulnerable and isolated are so grateful for the support and valuable contact they receive. The volunteers too, find it a very rewarding scheme in which to be involved. We are in the community, for our community, building and serving community.
