Story
I'm taking on the Welsh 3000s challenge to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity.
Last month our family unfortunately had a house fire, thankfully no one was injured and the outcome was much better than we could ever have hoped in part due to the excellent response from the local firefighters in Colwyn Bay. In particular they were incredible with our toddler and we are extremely grateful for the help they provided on that evening.
I have always wanted to complete the Welsh 3000s in one go also in memory of my father Garry Newbould who loved snowdonia and introduced me to the mountains from an early age.
To complete the Welsh 3000s Challenge you are required to have been at the top of all 15 of the mountains over 3000 ft in Wales within the space of 24 hours, without using any form of transport.
The length is about 24 miles, but the walks to the start point and down from the finish point can take it to over 30 miles in total with 3700m elevation.
We will be starting this challenge on Thursday 29th June and would value your support for this great cause.
The Fire Fighters Charity provide specialist lifelong support for members of the UKs fire services community, empowering individuals to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives.Whatever their reason for coming to the Charity whether they are injured, recovering from an illness, suffering from stress or anxiety their teams take the time to understand each persons mental, physical and social needs. To ensure the Charity can do this for over 5,000 people a year and to meet the £9m cost of operating its support services, it is dependent on regular donations from fire and rescue service personnel, past and present, as well as the general public.
Thanks so much in advance
Rachel
