Story
My boyfriend Lee, was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma skin cancer in January 2014 after been misdiagnosed the year before. Unfortunately, it was caught too late. Lees cancer was very aggressive and quickly spread throughout his body. Within the 15 months he battled the disease, he put up a strong and courageous fight. He tried everything he could to keep living; 3 major operations including brain surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy and even a clinical trial. Nothing worked for him.
Thoughout is battle Lee stayed so positive and so strong. He was constantly thinking about how others felt rather than himself. He bottled up his own feelings to spare other people's. Not once did he get angry or ask 'why me?'. Every time he was told 'no' or 'sorry it didn't work'. He accepted the news with grace and thanked the doctors anyway. He is a true inspiration and I am so proud to have been his girlfriend.
In his final days, Lee was admitted into the Marie Curie Hospice in Woolton Village. The staff there are truly amazing. It was the only place Lee felt really comfortable. I had heard about Marie Curie and how great the charity is before Lee went there, but I never truly realised how much the charity benefits people in their final days.
To run one hospice costs over £14000 PER DAY and so I think it would be nice to try and raise some money for the in Lee's name. Any donation will be really appreciated.
