Story
Well I have finally entered the Lincoln 10k, race numbers all through, fingers crossed my training will all pay off and I can complete it within an hour. Paul has set a target to complete it under 40mins, which should be no problem, all that training at Cranwell should have put him in good stead :)
The charity I have chosen to raise money for is Macmillan Cancer Support. Please visit their site to see what wonderful work they do. I am running this and raising money for all my wonderful friends and family who have had their lives touched by cancer.
I will try to keep you all updated on how I am getting on with my training etc, it has to be one of the biggest challenges I have set myself so far. Bearing in mind I have previously completed the 5k Race for Life in 40mins, it will be hard work for me to improve on this to double the distance and reduce the time. All worth it though if I manage to beat my fundraising total. So please dig deep!
Week 1 of training: Good start by managing to do 5k no problem, now to just improve on time and to try and cut down recovery times.
Week 2 of training: So far training is going well, I have just over 9 weeks to go and already up to 6k :) Planning to go for a long run at the weekend and try not to have any walking breaks. Then next will be the Dunstan hill of horror!
Week 3 of training: Well managed to miss out Dunstan hill of horror, instead went for a nice steady run with no breaks and managed to knock 2minutes off my time, which I am very happy with. Rest of fartlek training going well, trying to increase speed and distance every time I run, so looking good so far with 8 weeks now to go!
Week 3&4 have gone very well, upped my distance to just over 4 miles and knocked a few minutes off my time. Only 5 weeks to go until race day now and its looking good for finishing in my target time. Also as a bonus I have got notification that I have a place in the Great North Run, so this has spurred me on a bit knowing in September I will be running double the distance.
