As many know now, we lost my wonderful Dad on Wednesday 15th April 2020 to this dreadful disease, Covid-19. This has been a massive shock to us all who are close to Dad and we’d like to take the time to thank each and every person who’s messaged us, phoned us, sent cards and flowers or even just kept us in their thoughts through this heartbreaking time. 

Dad was a quiet man, kept himself to himself and in the more recent years has really struggled with his mental health. He has been under the care of St Helens Hospital mental health team a number of times and they have always done their best to help in any way possible. We thank them for this. More recently, he was taken to Whiston Hospital to be cared for by their nurses dealing with this pandemic. From the lady paramedic who took him in the ambulance, to the doctors and nurses who cared and looked after Dad in the short time he was with them, we are eternally grateful to you for for the support you gave to Dad whilst he was fighting Covid-19 without us by his side. To know that you were all with him until the end is a comfort to us all. 

Dad’s funeral will take place at 12pm on Tuesday 5th May 2020 at Greenacres in Rainford. This service can unfortunately not be attended in the way we would have liked, for all who wish to come and pay their respects to my amazing Dad. There will only be very immediate family allowed, under social distancing measures, which will be extremely tough to deal with. 

But, we as a family understand that people may wish to give a token of their own and we have therefore decided to set up this Just Giving page for anyone who wishes to pay their respects in their own way, no matter how big or small. We have chosen the St Helens and Whiston Hospitals charity, as we wished to keep donations as local as possible. 

Thank you again to all who have been in touch with us, your words mean more to us than you’ll ever know.
