Rachel's London Marathon fundraiser

London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In April 2019, I got a ballot place for the London Marathon. Somehow, I managed to get a "Good for Age" time.....it helps being old!!! This got me a place in the April 2020 London Marathon........but then COVID came. Here I am 18 months later, 18 months older, not as prepared as I was the first time round (broken toe due to spending quality time with my children at an Aqua Park, and my own stupidity), lack of training (due to school holidays and wanting to spend quality time with my family - paddleboards and kayaks have been our summer).
I'm a Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist/Therapy Team Leader at the James Paget University Hospital in Great Yarmouth and work on the Intensive Care Unit and Respiratory wards amongst others. I saw first hand the effects that COVID had, not only on patients, but their family and friends too and also my colleagues. Now, we are seeing the effects caused by lockdown and social distancing of many many more people in our community.
Many people have and are having their Mental wellbeing tried and tested. They are suffering. If I can help in any way, I will. I can push myself through 26.2 miles, in order to raise money for this fantastic charity, that is there to support people in my local community.
Please, please, please don't delay in speaking to someone......anyone. There are professionals available too. Norfolk and Waveney MIND is my local mental health charity, easily accessible on 0300 330 5488.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you have some spare change (although I think I have used cash 4 times in 18 months!!), please consider donating to Norfolk and Waveney MIND through my Just Giving Page.
