Story
Sue Ryder Nurses and healthcare teams are always there for local people who are dying. They are providing incredible emotional support as well as specialist medical care to people who are finding themselves in unimaginably difficult circumstances.
For the very first time, we are finding ourselves in the position that we might not be able to afford to continue providing end of life care to people in our local community. Our fundraising income dried up overnight with the cancellation of many events and the introduction of social distancing.
We are all facing something we have never faced before which is why Sue Ryder has launched an appeal to make sure that they are still here.
I am a physiotherapist working at Wheatfields Hospice in Leeds. Despite these uncertain times, our therapy team is still working hard to provide support to patients both on our in-patient unit, and in the community. I wanted to help in any way I could, so came up with the idea of completing the National 3 Peaks ON MY STAIRS! The 3 peaks total almost 3000m ascent, which over a 3 story house will equal 568 times up and down. I will attempt to complete this in two 12 hour stints (with a sleep in between).
I am asking you to give whatever you can afford at this difficult time. Every pound you give could make the difference to whether they can be there or not. It is that simple.
