We raise additional funds to enhance patient care and support staff

Story

My family and I will be taking part in Walk for Wards on the 9th July to raise money for a sentinel node machine for Portsmouth QA Hospital.

My life changed forever on the 23rd May 2022, a day I will never forget. That day I bounced into the breast clinic with a cyst and came out with a rare, very aggressive cancer and scared for my life.

After a roller coaster of a year, I've been through 6 rounds of chemo, 15 radiotherapy sessions, surgery and 10 immunotherapy injections (8 more to go!).

A sentinel node machine tests your lymph nodes for metastatic cancer during your surgery. Sadly as the machine is currently broken I wasn't able to make use of its amazing benefits. Cancer was found in one of my lymph nodes after surgery so I now have to rely on hope and a big helping of luck rather than science that it hasn't spread

As my physical scars fade the daily mental battle still remains. This machine won't remove all the anxieties a cancer diagnosis brings but it will help many others hugely.

Please sponsor us to raise as much money as possible or come along and join in the fun.

One last thing, now go and CHECK YOUR BREASTS EVERYONE!
