We provide support and fund vital research to make myeloma history

Story

Each year in the UK, approximately 5,700 people are diagnosed with myeloma.  Myeloma is a type of cancer arising from plasma cells that are normally found in the bone marrow.  It is currently incurable but, available treatment is aimed at controlling the disease, relieving the complications and symptoms it causes, and extending and improving the quality of life.

Your donation allows us to support patients and their families, with information and services when they need it. Myeloma UK is the only dedicated funder of myeloma research in the UK with an ongoing commitment to invest in ground-breaking research.

So, why donate?  Every day in December, Rachel Knight, Kerriann Wilson and Ingrid Artus will go for a swim in some fairly fresh Scottish waters for 'Dip and Day in December'.  Donning only our swimming costumes (ok, neoprene boots, gloves and probably a bobble hat or 2 as well) we will brave the elements and get chilly in order to raise funds for more research into this often misunderstood and not commonly known cancer.  We will bombard you with photos of our funny faces as we get into the cold water, photos of the beautiful views and hopefully some festive snowy and icy photos of our daily December challenge.  Will the sledgehammer be required this winter like last?  We'll have to wait and see.

Have no fear, the 3 of us are experienced winter open water swimmers but it's still a challenge!
