Story
This is how the conversation went back in November:
Friend Heather: 'I’ve just signed up to run the Paris
half-marathon.'
Me: ‘That’s amazing, what a brilliant thing to do’. And that got me thinking – I had resigned myself to believing 10k was the maximum distance I could run but Heather wasn’t putting any such restrictions on herself. Inspired by her willingness to go that extra mile (or kilometre!), I decided to follow suit.
That willingness to take on a challenge is my reason for choosing the City Lit Bursary scheme as the charity I want to raise money for. Working at City Lit, a college of adult education, I have a privileged insight into the reasons students decide to pursue a passion, develop skills for the workplace, study something they’ve always wanted to do.
The Student Bursary scheme aims to support those with financial difficulties, so that they too can take on that challenge. A bursary award helps directly with the cost of course fees.
So thank you for reading this and I hope you’ll sponsor me as I take on my own personal challenge.
