Story
For those of you who know me know I like a good drink and I particularly enjoy 'bubbles'.
Those who know me even better know that I have a beautiful 14 year old teenager who is on the autistic spectrum. Joshua faces challenges each day, he attends a school that fits his needs, I don't like the term special needs school as Joshua just has different needs than you or I. Joshua has behavioural and learning difficulties also, his learning age is equivalent to a 7-8 year old at present.
Joshua faces challenges on a day to day basis and does struggle with everyday living in certain ways. The best way I can describe joshuas life is like a light switch, it is either on or off, no dimmer switch for joshua as he cannot cope with this.
The last 14 years has been difficult at times and for the last 2 years Joshua has been prescribed medication to help him cope with his anger and behavioural issues. Which is why having a glass of wine or bubbles at the end of the day has become a release for me to help cope with the stresses and strains of raising a child with autism.
My son is growing in a beautiful and handsome young man, I am incredibly proud of him and what he achieves every day. This is my time to face a personal challenge and make my son proud of me, you never know I might just loose some weight along the way too !!!!
I have chosen Bolton lads and girls club because they look after Joshua after school in the independence group which includes children with autism. This help is invaluable to me and my family and I want to say thanks.
