Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I made it and walked the full 50 miles (actually 51.5 miles due to a navigational error!)! The Peak District was indeed beautiful (despite walking for 9 hours in the dark) and it was as mad as imagined. After 24 hours I could just about walk again which was amazing but my toe nail will take longer to get back to normal. Even though I have now completed the walk, this page is staying open, so if you are impressed with the achievement and want to donate then it will still count.

I have chosen Fairbridge, a charity helping disadvantaged young people gain skills to get them into work, giving them confidence to live independently and motivating them to change their lives. I have always been lucky enough and privileged enough to get on in life, but I think it makes for a better place if we can raise the aspirations of a group of young people who don't have either of these and maybe they can make something of their lives too. The walk is also raising money for Fountain of Peace Children's Foundation, a charity that employs local builders to build proper housing for Ugandan orphans. These houses are proper houses, built to be sustainable and permanent - they're not huts with a hole in the back yard for a loo. The intention is that by treating these children as valued individuals who are loved and respected and worthy of a proper home - that they will develop into aspirant adults who in turn will continue to feed back into their own society and community.
