Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Like me, you may have been upset and horrified by the C4 Dispatches programme in 2019 about families and children living in poverty and not having enough to eat. I thought I could use various running events in 2020 to try to raise £2020 for the Trussell Trust. However, coronavirus rather made a mess of things so now I plan to raise £2021 by the end of 2021.
Coronavirus means there aren’t any organised running events but I’m planning to finish 2020 by running 100 miles in 10 days.
Then, if events return: Barry 40 (if I can get fit enough!); Cardiff CPR; Cardiff HM; Frankfurt Marathon; Nos Galan 2021. I might get injured. I might not be able to do all these events. But it's not really about my success.
It's about the fact that April to September 2019 was the busiest half-year period for food banks in the Trussell Trust’s network since the charity opened. During these six months, 823,145 three-day emergency food parcels were given to people in crisis in the UK; more than a third of these (301,653) went to children. This is a 23% increase on the same period in 2018 – the sharpest rate of increase the charity has seen for the past five years.
That’s why me and the Trussell Trust value your support now more than ever.
