Story
What are we doing? Training has commenced for our coast to coast cycle this summer! The route is a 140 miles cycle running from Whitehaven on the west coast of Cumbria across the Lake District and the Pennines, ending on the north-east coast in Sunderland. We are even bringing Beitidh and Martha along for the ride!
Why are we doing it? Ever since we completed our roller blade half marathon so spectacularly we’ve been on the look out for a new challenge! What could be more relaxing than a 140 mile cycle, with a few challenging climbs and 2 children in tow! In all seriousness, it is a great way to challenge ourselves whilst raising money for a charity that means a lot to us.
Although we hope to raise money for a charity, my main aim is to spread the message about joining the blood stem cell register and be that lifesaver who gives someone a second chance of life. I don’t think I can ever put into words how grateful we are to that lifesaver who signed up to the register and is giving my mam that second chance. He will never know, but we will always remember. So if you can do anything, please join the register.
Who are we doing it for? Blood Cancer UK is a charity dedicated to beating blood cancer. They are currently funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough.
