Event: Asics Greater Manchester Marathon 2017, on 2 April 2017
On 6 May, the Dean of Pembroke College Cambridge and thirty students will be cycling from Cambridge to Oxford to raise money for the Jo Cox PhD studentship in Refugee and Migration Studies.

Story

Jo Cox was committed to alleviating the plight of refugees fleeing conflict and other terrible human hardships round the world. She fought for the rights of all at home and abroad, and stood for a politics that unites people rather than divides them.

Since her horrific murder last year the students, fellows and staff of Pembroke College (where I work and of which Jo was an alumna) have sought to honour her memory in the best way an academic institution can - by establishing a PhD studentship in a subject she was passionate about. In furthering understanding of migration and the plight of refugees, the Jo Cox Scholars will be informing those in power of their responsibilities to refugees around the world.

A number of fundraising events are planned, including an Oxford-to-Cambridge bike ride later this year. If you'd like to support my efforts at the Manchester marathon with a charitable donation, please consider giving to the Jo Cox studentship fund. More information can be found here:
