Story
Jo Cox was committed to alleviating the plight of refugees fleeing conflict and other terrible human hardships round the world. She fought for the rights of all at home and abroad, and stood for a politics that unites people rather than divides them.
Since her horrific murder last year the students, fellows and staff of Pembroke College (where I work and of which Jo was an alumna) have sought to honour her memory in the best way an academic institution can - by establishing a PhD studentship in a subject she was passionate about. In furthering understanding of migration and the plight of refugees, the Jo Cox Scholars will be informing those in power of their responsibilities to refugees around the world.
