We will do whatever it takes to help you live life as fully as you can

Story

This year marks 20 years since my wonderful grandmother lost her battle with cancer. In May 2003, Nan passed away just two days after her 77th birthday.

I can't believe where those two decades have gone! I remember losing Nan like it was yesterday. She was a remarkable woman. A woman of faith and a true, British no-nonsense, stiff upper lip type, with a heart of gold. She was an evacuee in WWII, a talented seamstress in her spare time, and later a full time carer for my Granddad who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in his late fifties.

My brothers and I were very close to my nan. We stayed with her regularly and had brief periods of living with her full time. Living less than a mile apart, not a weekend would go by when she wasn't at our house, or us at hers. She made the best Sunday roast dinner and always made sure there were choc ices in the freezer for pudding!

I speak of my Nan often. Even 20 years on, she is very much alive in our memories and hearts.

I know very few people who haven't had their lives impacted in someway by cancer. Whether they've fought their own battle or they've had someone close to them do so. This year, in memory of my Nan, and to support all those who need it, I'm walking 45 kilometres (that's just under 28 miles) for Macmillan Cancer Support.

It's unlikely I'll ever be able to run a marathon, but with enough training and hard work, I might just be able to walk one! Your kind donations will help spur on every step, so please give what you can!

My goal is to raise £250, however, if I somehow manage to make it all the way to £500 (or more) I will commit taking on an additional challenge - watch this space for details!
