Story

On Monday 29th August, which happens to be my birthday, myself and a team of friends are getting together to swim the Wildwood open water challenge and raise much needed funds for Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice.  I'll be taking on the 1km challenge.

This hospice does incredible work looking after sick children and supporting bereaved families when they need it most.

They helped my friends Ric and Rhiannon through the worst time of their lives when their son Winston suddenly died in January 2016 just before his 4th birthday.  Winston would have turned 10 this year.

Rhiannon and I are old school friends, we shared the same boarding house and then over 2 years ago we ended up as neighbours living next door to each other! We set up a swimming group between us and then gradually more and more people joined and our lovely open water swimming community on Shoreham Beach grew to what is now.  We are called the Shoreham Beach Swimmers, or SBS as we like to be known!  Between us we will be taking on 1km, 3km and 5km distances.

So please do give what you can to show your support for us on our swims and also for Ric & Rhiannon together with their children Frank and Rosaline.

Keep in the swim SBS x x x

If you would like to come along and support us on the day, you're more than welcome.  There will be a lot of CAKE!!

(Approximate timings: 3km & 5km swims start at 9:10am. 1km swim is at 9:25am.)
