Story
Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children, teens and adults under 40, but only around 3% of UK funding for cancer research is spent on brain tumours. We refuse to accept that this is just the way the cookie crumbles! Luckily, we’ve got a secret ingredient that’ll help us rise to the challenge, push forward and mix things up. Every penny you raise will help us fund research to find a cure.
I am unfortunately one of those who have had the devastating diagnosis of a brain tumour. If that isnt hard enough to deal with I was then hit with the fact that there is no cure.
I was diagnosed whilst 29 weeks pregnant with my son after I started having seizures. Thankfully he was born fit and well and is now a year old. I also have a 5 year old daughter.
I had surgery and found out the tumour was cancerous just before Christmas. On the 27th December I started radiotherapy and chemo. I've just finished a 6 month course of chemo and thankfully I'm currently stable. Even in the best circumstances I will need medical care for the rest of my life, unless a break through finds a cure.
The Brain Tumour charity funds vital research, and also provides vital support networks for families affected by brain tumours. They are also campaigning for more awareness of the symptoms of a brain tumour as early diagnosis can greatly improve quality of life.
