Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Keep reading if you've already visited: update below!
My younger sister Liz was diagnosed with early onset, rapid onset Parkinson's disease in October 2007 at the age of 27. Dealing with the rapid progression of this neurological condition is extremely difficult, particularly in someone so young (most people who get Parkinson's are aged 50 or over). Parkinson's UK's Bristol branch provides, ongoing help, information and support for Liz and her carers, as well as providing details of medical professionals- for all of which we are extremely grateful.
To support the vital work of Parkinson’s UK, I am raising money by swimming the Channel -yes, 22 miles (about 35.5 km)- that's an average 118 lengths per week in a 25m pool- over 12 weeks in my local swimming pool (between 2 July and 18 September 2011). My local pool is here in Colomiers, SW France; feel free to come and support me. If you live further afield, I am finding a way to chart my progress on the internet (*see update below)!!

UPDATE: I have completed my swimming challenge!! I swam 1416 lengths at my local pool = 35.5 km = 22 miles over 3 months. Thanks to everyone for your generous support: it means a lot to me and my family. So far we've raised £870; please feel free to send my JustGiving page link on to anyone else who might like to donate. Huge thanks once again x
