Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page.
On May 22 2008 our lives were changed forever when we unexpectedly lost our beautiful cousin Tara Fielding to SADS, or Sudden Adult Death Syndrome. Tara was only 18 years old.
Called the "silent killer" this genetic disorder has gone largely diagnosed for years in thousands of patients, and it is only when tragedy strikes that the family are made aware that there could be an issue. This illness has only gained awareness in the UK through high-profile cases of young cardiac arrest, such as with the former professional footballer Fabrice Muamba.
So much more research is needed, and facilities provided to ensure that we do not lose more youngsters to this tragic disorder. I am raising money on the London - Brighton bike ride to ensure that awareness and action contines, and to ensure that as many lives as possible are saved.
As a sufferer of neutropenia, I am also trying to raise awareness of two illnesses. Because of my disorder, training has been difficult and the physical exertion required to complete this bike ride is going to be immense - but it is something that I feel should and will be done. Not only to raise important funds and awareness, but to also prove that no matter what ails us, we can all make a difference in some way.
Please dig deep - not just for Tara, but for the all the youngsters across the UK that can benefit from the increased donations, and improved research and equipment.
