Story
I am running the Virgin London Marathon in 2019 in memory of my amazing Nanny Edith Battisson, who passed away on Mothers Day in 2018 from the effects of dementia aged 95. She suffered with dementia for over 10 years, which started to develop shortly after my Grandad passed away. She was one of the biggest inspirations in my life and continues to be so.
I have decided to run to support AGE UK. My sister Natasha works for Lancashire AGE UK as a Dementia Links Support Worker and is a Dementia Friends Champion. I therefore understand personally the vital work that she and AGE UK as a charity carry out for elderly people.
Please help me by donating to this page - any contribution would be amazing and gratefully received.
Age UK's vision is to make the UK a great place to grow older. They support people and their families by providing just some of the following services....
providing vital information and advice, putting people in control of the health care they receive, tackling loneliness by supporting older people to stay active and independent for longer, campaigning and researching, providing networks and communities for older people and supporting international causes for elderly people in some of the poorest parts of the world.
Most people will feel lonely at some point in their lives. It’s a deeply personal experience that - in most cases - will thankfully pass. But for the 1.9 million older people who often feel ignored or invisible loneliness can define their lives and have a significant impact on their wellbeing. Donating to this page will help the national Age UK to continue providing vital services that offer companionship, advice and support for millions of older people facing later life alone.
