Story
London Marathon - 23rd April 2017.
Well here I am again!! As most of you know I ran Leicester half marathon last year in memory of Bella Hurst, raising more money than what I could have ever imagined.
Whilst training for Leicester half marathon I submitted a ballot entry to the London Marathon. When I entered the ballot I could just about run 5.5 miles. On entering I said 'I'll never get in, but if I do it'll be the only marathon I do'. - famous last words, I'll never get in! - well I'm in!
I know runners that have entered year on year to try to get a ballot entry to the London Marathon and not been successful. I feel very fortunate that this place has been given to me with absolutely no pressure of raising any money.
On training for London I have always had my focus that I'm doing this for me. But actually deep down I'm not. Having lost Bella was the reason I started running and you might say it's fate that I've been given a ballot entry to London. But I've been given it and here I am!!
Bella is still spoken about in our home. Sometimes whilst roller skating. This is something that Lucy, Bella and their friends all loved to do together. Also reading the Rainbow Fairy books that they both had and playing with Salvantian Families. Bella may no longer be here, and this pain will never go. But as each year passes we learn how to manage our emotions and can almost prepare ourselves for the next milestone that's missed.
Friends, family and even people I don't know gave so generously to my Leicester half marathon charity page. Therefore I know it's a big ask to ask for money yet again. But even if I just raise 50p I'd be happy! Bella was treated at QMC for the brain aneurysm that she suffered. Bella and her family were given dignity and upmost care by the paediatric unit at QMC, and this is the reason why this charity.
