Following on from my World Record Britain End to End race, Handcycle Britain is going coastal

This August I take on my next ultra endurance challenge and record-attempt, as I Race Around Britain - The Long Road Home

While I will looking to set a fastest known time (FKT) for handcycling around Britain, I will also be looking to break the record for the furthest distance ridden by handcycle. Depending on the route, the distance around the coast of Britain is in the region of 7000 km

Through this challenge I am fundraising for The Eve Appeal - funding ground-breaking research & who continue to raise awareness of the five gynaecological cancers

Each year in the UK, over 21,000 women are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer. This means 58 people receive this life-changing news each and every day. Sadly, 21 of these women die a day from their gynaecological cancer. The Eve Appeal are determined to change this. Their mission - to ensure that everyone is aware of what to look out for, because recognising gynaecological cancer symptoms can mean an earlier diagnosis and a better outcome

During 2020, it was discovered that I had an ovarian tumour. I went through subsequent major surgery & recovery over the next months as a result. I didn't know the signs, I put my symptoms to other things, Covid & the Pandemic scared me more, I didn't want to bother anyone

I was a lucky one, I am ok & I am back fit & well. I got another chance. For many & those diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer it will be a different story

I get another chance, another chance to race, to ride my bike, to use this challenge for good. Your support & donations will keep me going on my journey around Britain & will mean a lot to me & to the lives of others
